The Haunting in Connecticut Movie Review – Plot Based on a true story, Lionsgate’s The Haunting in Connecticut charts one family’s terrifying, real-life encounter with the dark forces of the supernatural. When the Campbell family moves to upstate Connecticut, they soon learn that their charming Victorian home has a disturbing history: not only was the house a transformed funeral parlor where inconceivable acts occurred, but the owner’s clairvoyant son Jonah served as a demonic messenger, providing a gateway for spiritual entities to crossover. Now unspeakable terror awaits, when Jonah, the boy who communicated with the powerful dark forces of the supernatural, returns to unleash a new kind of horror on the innocent and unsuspecting family.
Quick Review

Everyone loves a ghost story, especially when it is based on actual events. Something about that makes it scarier, closer to home, it could be real. There have been numerous films similar to this that have covered the same historic events such as the 1979 version by the name ‘The Amityville Horror’, but none have really done it justice.

The cast gives an okay performance this time round, with good cinematography that provides a spooky and dark experience. But this one is just full of cliches, and poor attempts at scaring the audience with loud noises and surprises. The visual effects are impressive, but as far as horror movies go…this might be one for rental on a Friday night in. Watch it alone and you might get some good scares.
