What’s It About?
In The Grey, Liam Neeson leads an unruly group of oil-rig roughnecks when their plane crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness. Battling mortal injuries and merciless weather, the survivors have only a few days to escape the icy elements – and a vicious pack of rogue wolves on the hunt – before their time runs out. — (C) Open Road Films
Review of The Grey
I loved this movie. Going into it, I had no idea what it was even about. The Grey is such an ambiguous name, but this ambiguity served well. The opening scenes are extremely intense and realistic, with an impressive plane crash scene and overall a gory survival tale.
Liam Neeson, as always, adds something extra to this movie. I don’t know if it is just his voice being amazing, or if it is something else, but either way I found myself glued to the screen during this epic and personal tale set in the Alaskan wilderness. Liam has always been a great actor, with many knowing him from his recent role in Taken. This movie was produced by Ridley and Tony Scott, demonstrating elements from both of the director styles in a blend that just works. The wolves in this film are done incredibly well, providing both mystery and thrill throughout the entire movie. Great acting, an intense storyline and a memorable opening scene.
Looking for a good thrill but sick of all the ghosts and unbelievable haunting stories? Maybe this one is for you. It offers a different storyline not often seen, and some exceptional performances and intense scenes.
