The sleek new Mountain Lion was officially released for download on the Mac App store on July 25th, 2012. TechCrunch reviewer MG Seigler has named Mountain Lion to be ‘the most polished and robust version of OS X yet”.
Mountain Lion is an upgrade to the previously released Lion OS X. The upgrade comes with brand new features including a notification centre, cloud integration, new apps like Notes, Messages and Reminders and so on.
Mountain Lion has reportedly been seeing good app compatibility, but be sure to check your 3rd party applications for full support.
The OS has so far received rave reviews, with the notification centre receiving much attention as probably the best new feature of the new operating system.
“Its hard to imagine how Apple will further refine OS X from here”, says MG Siegler.
Microsoft will also soon be releasing a new OS later this year, Windows 8. This OS includes the metro interface and improved applications, an app store and more. It will be interesting to see if Microsoft’s new OS has enough to compete with Apple’s constant stream of upgrades and new features.
