iOS 6 is just around the corner, and with the range of new features added to improve the amazing iOS experience, there will be one standard feature missing….the youtube application on iOS.
A recent discovery on 9to5Mac demonstrated that the new iOS 6 no longer has the usual youtube application as seen in previous iOS 5. The company has revealed that the reason for this is that its license with Google to include the program has expired.
However, for Youtube losers, there will still be a number of choices available on iOS 6 devices. Of course, there is still access via the safari browser, both on the desktop and on the go. Youtube now supports in browser playback.
There is also a separate Youtube application currently being built by Google and soon to be available on the Apple App store.
The removal of the App is an inconvenience for users of iOS and the Apple iPhone or iPad. Because of the competing positions of Apple and Google in the marketplace, it does however make sense for the two to branch out with their video online services.
It appears that Apple will continue to further distance itself from Android and Google services. Apple has recently also replaced the original iOS google mapping system with a newer, improved, Apple and Facebook developed mapping system. Meanwhile, Google is now taking advantage of Nokia mapping services.
